Adi Mulahalilović – Biography
Adi Mulahalilović (58) is a multi-platinum, award-winning composer and music producer originally from Sarajevo and now based in Los Angeles. With a career that spans decades and crosses continents, his work blends pop, film, and contemporary acoustic music, all grounded in a deeply human sensibility.
Adi’s professional journey began in 1986 when he joined the legendary band Hari Mata Hari as a pianist and composer. Between 1987 and 1991, the group rose to become one of the most successful acts in the former Yugoslavia, earning widespread acclaim and numerous prestigious awards, including the Golden Bird, Diamond Record, and multiple Platinum Records.
In 1991, Adi stepped away from the band to produce his brother Edo Mulahalilović’s platinum-selling album “Jedna je pjesma cijelog života.” Soon after, the outbreak of war in the region halted further promotion and touring. During the Siege of Sarajevo (1992–1995), Adi and Edo remained creatively active, contributing to cultural and performing arts projects. Among their most notable works from this period is “Ostani kraj mene,” which represented Bosnia & Herzegovina at the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest in Ireland.
From 1996 to 2008, Adi continued a highly productive collaboration with Edo, composing and producing numerous albums for pop artists across the region. Their work earned multiple gold and platinum records under major publishing and production houses, including Warner Chappell and Unirecords.
Following Edo’s passing in 2010, Adi relocated to California and stepped away from the music industry for several years. In 2020, he returned with renewed creative focus, dedicating his work to film and documentary composition, as well as new artistic projects. These include the New Age series Sounds of the Zodiac and an upcoming acoustic rock project, Tom Pressley.
Adi’s music is driven by a simple but powerful belief:
“The right song, at the right time, can heal the heart, uplift the soul, and bring light and understanding to people. Through my songwriting, I hope to offer a small seed of optimism and love.”
Love, Peace, Coexist ☮️✌️
