Adi Mulahalilović – Biography
Adi Mulahalilović is a multi platinum, award winning composer and producer from Sarajevo, now based in Los Angeles.
His musical journey began in the late 1980s with the legendary band Hari Mata Hari, where he worked as a pianist, composer and arranger during the group’s rise to become one of the most successful acts in the former Yugoslavia. During that era, he earned multiple major music awards, including the Golden Bird, Diamond Record and several Platinum Records from Jugoton.
In 1991, Adi left the band to produce his brother Edo Mulahalilović’s platinum album Jedna je pjesma cijelog života. But as war erupted across the former Yugoslavia, music and life were forever changed. During the Siege of Sarajevo, Adi and Edo continued creating music and cultural projects, including composing Ostani kraj mene, the song that represented Bosnia & Herzegovina at the Eurovision Song Contest 1994 in Ireland.
Throughout the following years, Adi collaborated on numerous platinum and gold records across Europe under Warner Chappell and other major labels, building a career as a composer, producer and storyteller behind the scenes.
After moving to California following the passing of his brother Edo in 2010, Adi stepped away from the music industry for several years before eventually returning to composition through film, documentary work and deeply personal songwriting.
Today, his music blends cinematic emotion, lived experience and raw storytelling rooted in decades of life, loss, resilience and reinvention. His recent projects explore Americana, country rock, blues and atmospheric world influences, bringing long held stories to life through modern creative tools. If any artist feels connected to the songwriting and spirit behind the music, Adi welcomes creative collaboration and connection.
